2013 Writing Contest Winners Announced

Poetry Winners:
1st Place: "Four Contracting Sentences and Two Scenes that Won't Comply" by Richard Ray
2nd Place: "This Animal" by Elena Tomorowitz
3rd Place: "Waning Crescent" by K.T. Landon

Prose Winners:
1st Place: "The Crying Card" by Lisa Alexander
2nd Place: "Drop Kick Me Jesus" by Nikki Miller-Rose

45 Richard Ray and Lisa Alexander will both receive a cash prize of $1,000 and their winning submission will appear in Fugue’s summer/fall issue 45. Runners-up will also be considered for publication.

We would like to extend our gratitude to this year's judges, Duff Brenna (prose) and Claudia Emerson (poetry). We received a large number of strong submissions this year, and the competition, in turn, was steep. Both judges informed us that choosing a winner wasn't easy. We would also like to thank all those who submitted their work. As always, we encourage you to keep writing and submitting.
