Flight of Writers 2014 was a huge success, selling out for the second year in a row and packing the house at Bloom Restaurant here in Moscow. We had a blast discovering that Robert Wrigley writes poems akin to an Italian white pressed at a vineyard that cares most about the history and lineage of its fruit, or that Mary Clearman Blew writes stories as rich and robust in flavor as the red blend, Layer Cake. We also want to send a special thanks to Samuel Ligon for driving down from Spokane to make everyone laugh so hard that everyone walking outside must have thought we were in the process of going mad. Well, after entering the brilliant fairy tale world of Sam’s imagination and five generous tastings of wine, I’d say we probably were going mad, at least a little bit.
We also want to send a special thanks to Carol Spurling, for selling tickets at BookPeople, and Brett and Nikki Woodland, for hosting the event at their wonderful restaurant and donating a gift certificate. These generous people, and those of you told your friends about Flight of Writers and purchased tickets, you all make Fugue the success that it has become over the last 25 years. Thank you, and we’ll see you again next year for the third (and I think it’s safe to say annual) Flight of Writers 2015.
